A deacon and companion of Saint Austremoine in the 3rd century, Saint Mammet successfully evangelized Upper Auvergne, particularly the regions of Murat and Aurillac. He also traveled through the Limagne to convert pagans before passing away after long apostolic labors. He is considered one of the apostles of the Diocese of Saint-Flour.

Designated by Saint Peter as an auxiliary to Saint Austremonius, the deacon Mammet successfully evangelized the regions of Murat and Aurillac despite geographical difficulties.

Mammet continued his work in Lower Auvergne and accompanied Saint Austremoine in his final duties before dying and being buried in the town that bears his name.
