Fifth Bishop of Toul in the 5th century, Saint Auspice was a learned and pious prelate. He is notably known for his correspondence with Count Arbogast of Trier, whom he exhorted to turn away from avarice. His relics were honored on several occasions between the 11th and 12th centuries.

Death and translation of the relics
Saint Auspice died at the end of the 5th century and was buried in Toul; his relics were rediscovered and solemnly transferred in the 11th and 12th centuries.

The saint, formerly celebrated on July 8, is now honored on February 26 in the liturgy of Nancy.
