Anne de Lobera, known as Anne of Jesus, was a Spanish Carmelite nun born in 1545. A disciple of Saint Teresa, she founded numerous monasteries in Spain, France, and the Netherlands. She died in the odor of sanctity in Brussels in 1621.

Origins and miraculous childhood

Anne de Lobera was born in 1545 into a noble Spanish family and regained the use of speech and hearing at the age of seven.

Vocation and expansion of the Order

Entering the Carmelites of Saint Teresa, she founded numerous monasteries in Spain, France, and the Low Countries.

She embraced the institute of Saint Teresa at the age of twenty-four. After having founded various monasteries in Spain, Mother La Mère de Jésus Spanish Carmelite nun, close collaborator of Saint Teresa of Avila. Anne of Jesus was called, for the same purpose, to France and the Low Countries.

In France , the hous Carmélites Contemplative religious order founded by Saint Teresa of Avila. es of the Carmelites multiplied rapidly; there were already sixty-two by the end of the 17th century.

End of life and death

She passed away in 1621 in Brussels, leaving behind an important network of Carmelite convents.
