Cult, miracles, and legacy of the relics

After his death in 1197, his tomb became a place of miracles. Despite the destruction of his body during the civil wars, a relic and his crozier remain in Poitiers.

He was buried in the chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary, behind the main altar of the basilica of Saint Cyprian of Poitiers: he performed great miracles. His sepulcher was frequented by a great concourse of people, coming to ask for the healing of their infirmities because of the numerous testimonies that God gave of his holiness; his cult was publicly established and even extended outside the diocese of Poitiers. His feast is celebrated throughout the Order of Canons Regular. His body was raised from the ground and solemnly recognized at the end of the 16th century. Later, it perished in the midst of our civil dissensions, in the destruction of the monastery and the basilica.
