Death, burial, and posterity of the relics

Died around 685, she was buried in Marconne. Her relics, dispersed between Montreuil and Hesdin, suffered the troubles of the Revolution before being authenticated in the 19th century.

Nothing more is known of the life of Saint Framechilde, who died on the seventeenth day of May, around the year 685: she was buried in the church of Marconne, which she had built herself. Her body was raised from the ground in 1839, by Bauduin, Bishop of Thérouanne. Her relics rested in the abbey of Montreuil-sur-Mer, founded by Saint Austreberte: a portion was also kept in the collegiate and parish church of Hesdin. The reliquary of Montreuil was destroyed on the 29th Vendémiaire, Year II: some bones had been removed from it, which are still venerated today in the parish church of that city, and which were authenticated in 1893 and 1885 by Mgr de la Tour d'Auvergne, Bishop of Amiens. Saint Framechilde is honored on May 17.
