Blessed Angelus of Chivasso

A 15th-century Piedmontese Franciscan friar, Angelo of Chivasso distinguished himself by his exemplary piety and love of poverty. He died in Cuneo in 1495 and became the patron saint of the city following numerous miracles. His cult was officially approved by Pope Benedict XIV.

Youth and education
Born in Piedmont, Angelo received a pious education and manifested an intense devotion very early on, spending his nights in prayer.

He died in Cuneo in 1495, became the patron saint of the city, and saw his cult officially approved by Pope Benedict XIV.
