Life and apostolate of Saint Hyginus
Coming from an illustrious family, Hyginus (or Genies) distinguished himself by his eloquence and his conversions of idolaters before miraculously escaping his persecutors.

According to his life, written by an author who was ancient in truth but not contemporary, a nd which Bernard de La Bernard de La Guillerie Author who collected the life of Saint Hyginus. Guillerie collected, it appears that he was born of an illustrious family, that he was adorned with all Christian virtues, and gifted with a marvelous eloquence; that his apostolic labors brought a great number of idolaters to the faith; that, for this, he was subjected to persecutions, but that he saved himself by a miracle following which thirty soldiers, sent to capture him, themselves embraced the faith of Jesus Christ.

The saint is honored as the patron of Lectoure, where a monastery and a church were once dedicated to him before being ceded to the Abbey of Cluny in the 17th century.
