Monastic life and foundation of the hermitage
Likely originating from the community of Maroilles, Quinibert established himself as a hermit in Salesches, marking the origin of the future priory.
It is likely that he belonged to the community of Maroilles, that he obtained permission from his superiors to lead a solitary life in a small hermitage built at Salesches, and that this was the origin of the priory which was subsequently erected there. It was there that he lived in the practice of all Christian virtues, and that he surrendered his soul to God.
Miracles and testimonies of healing
Numerous miraculous healings are attributed to his intercession, formerly attested by ex-votos that disappeared during the wars of the 18th century.
The religious added in their deposition that many miraculous healings had been performed in this place, at the very time they were writing, through the intercession of the pious hermit, and that a multitude of people from the region could bear witness to them.
There were formerly, in the church of Salesches, a large number of canes, crutches, and even some carts that were kept as proofs and mementos of the healings performed on the infirm. Everything was burned in the wars that devastated the north of France at the end of the 18th century.
Liturgical cult and relics
